How to Set Up
WhatsApp API Campaigns in Wavixo
A step-by-step guide to automate WhatsApp notifications such as
order confirmations, payment updates, webinar bookings, and more.
Overview
WhatsApp allows businesses to send pre-approved template messages as automated notifications once their WhatsApp Business API goes live.
These notifications may include:
Account updates
Payment confirmations
Shipping or delivery updates
Webinar or event confirmations
With Wavixo, businesses get a simple and reliable way to:
Automate WhatsApp notifications using APIs
Track performance through campaigns
Send WhatsApp Broadcasts in addition to automation
In this guide, you’ll learn how to send automated WhatsApp messages using Wavixo in just three simple steps.
Pre-requisites
Before setting up a WhatsApp API campaign, make sure you have:
1. A verified WhatsApp Business API account
2. At least one pre-approved WhatsApp Template Message
3. A tool to make HTTP/HTTPS requests
(Postman is used as an example in this guide)
Step 1: Create an API Campaign in Wavixo
To create your first API campaign:
Log in to your Wavixo account
Create a new project or open an existing one
Navigate to Campaigns
Click Launch Campaign
Select API Campaign
Create your campaign and set it Live
🎉 That’s it — your first WhatsApp API campaign is now created.
Step 2: Copy Your API Key
Next, you’ll need the API key to authenticate API requests.
How to Copy the API Key
Open your Wavixo Project
Go to the Manage page
Copy the API Key
📌 Important Notes
The API key is a secret authentication key
Store it securely
You can regenerate the key anytime if required
This key will be used while sending automated WhatsApp notifications.
Step 3: Send a Notification to Users
Now, use the campaign name and API key from the previous steps to send messages.
The Wavixo API is designed to:
Accept dynamic parameter values
Automatically fill those values into the selected template
Send the message instantly to the user
This removes the need to manually configure messages on the business side.
You can refer to the Wavixo API Reference Documentation to understand all API fields in detail.
Sending Your First WhatsApp Notification
Once everything is configured:
1. Trigger the API request from your backend
2. The selected template message is sent automatically to the user
3. All dynamic values are populated via parameters

WhatsApp API Campaign vs WhatsApp Broadcast Campaign
It’s important to understand the difference between the two.
WhatsApp API Campaign
Uses a fixed pre-approved template message
Triggered automatically by a user action or event
Messages are sent via APIs
Fully automated
Examples:
Abandoned cart notification for e-commerce stores
Payment confirmation after a successful transaction
WhatsApp Broadcast Campaign
Messages are sent manually
You can choose:
Pre-approved Template Messages
Regular Messages (within the 24-hour window)
You configure:
Dynamic values
Target audience
Campaign timing
Examples:
Event reminder sent to all participants
Promotional offer sent to active users
When to Use API Campaigns
API campaigns are ideal when:
1. Messages need to be sent automatically
2. Notifications are event-based
3. Real-time communication is required
This makes them perfect for transactional and system-driven notifications.
