How to Automate a Personalized
Birthday Wish to Your Customers (Using Wavixo)

Customers are more likely to engage with brands that feel personal and thoughtful. With Wavixo, you can automatically send personalized birthday messages to your customers at a specific time on their birthday — without any manual effort. In this guide, you’ll learn how to set up a personalized birthday wish automation step by step.

Pre-requisites

Before setting up birthday automation, make sure you have:

Your customer’s date of birth

Customer name and phone number

WhatsApp Business API set up on Wavixo

Once this data is ready, you can proceed with the automation.

Steps to Automate a Personalized Birthday Wish on WhatsApp

Step 1: Create a Birthday Wish Template Message

First, you need to configure a WhatsApp template message for birthday wishes.
Create the Template Message
Go to Manage → Template Message in the Wavixo dashboard

Click “+ New” to create a new template

Choose the Template Category
Select Marketing as the WhatsApp template category

(Birthday wishes fall under marketing messages)

Select the Template Type
Choose Text as the template type

WhatsApp template types include:
Text, Image, Limited Time Offer, Carousel, Location, Video & File

Select Template Language
Choose one language for the template

Each template can only be created in one language

Name Your Birthday Wish Template

The template name must be:
Lowercase

Alphanumeric

Use underscores (_)

No spaces or special characters allowed

Example:
birthday_wish

Add Template Content

This is the actual birthday message your customers will receive.

Example:
*HAPPY BIRTHDAY {{1}}!* 🎉🎂

Hope your day is filled with smiles and joy 😊

Wishing you a year full of success, happiness, and exciting adventures!

Submit the Template for Approval
Click Submit

Once approved, your birthday template is ready to use.

Step 2: Import Contacts with Birth Dates

Next, you’ll upload customer data with birth dates.

Prepare Contact Data

1. Open Google Sheets
2. Add columns for:
Name

Phone Number

Date of Birth

3. Enter the date of birth in dd/mm/yyyy format
4. Download the file as a .csv

Upload Contacts to Wavixo

1. Go to Contacts → Import Contacts → Upload File
2. Upload the CSV file
3. Map the attributes correctly:

Name → Name

Number → Phone Number

Date of Birth → Date of Birth

4. Click Import
Once imported, the Date of Birth attribute will be visible in the Contacts section.

Step 3: Configure Birthday Wish Automation in Wavixo

Now, configure when and how the birthday message is sent.

Enable Birthday Automation
1. Go to Manage → Live Chat Settings

2. Locate the Birthday Message option

3. Enable the toggle

Set Automation Preferences
Select the time at which the birthday message should be sent

(Optional) Enable Skip Opted-out Users to exclude users who have opted out

Link the Template Message
1. Click Configure

2. Select the pre-approved birthday template

3. Click Save Configuration

Automation Setup Complete 🎉
Congratulations!
Your personalized birthday wish automation is now active.

On each customer’s birthday:

The message will be sent automatically
At the time you selected
Using the approved template

Track Performance & Improve Engagement
You can:

View analytics for birthday messages

Measure delivery and engagement

Improve results by:
