How to Delete Contacts in Wavixo

Learn how to manage or remove unwanted contacts inside Wavixo.
Currently, Wavixo does not allow permanent deletion of contacts. However, the platform provides better alternatives that help you keep your contact list clean and prevent unwanted users from receiving your messages.
Using these methods, you can:
Update incorrect contact details

Prevent uninterested users from receiving broadcasts

Filter users efficiently when sending campaigns

Let’s explore each option.

⭐ 1. Reimport Contacts (Best Alternative to Deletion)

If you uploaded contacts with incorrect details (such as wrong name, tags, or attributes), you can simply reimport the corrected list.
Wavixo will:

Automatically update the existing contact

Replace old incorrect information

Prevent duplicate contacts from being created

This keeps your Contacts section clean and ready for broadcasting.
The document also references the article “How to import contacts in Wavixo” for detailed steps.

⭐ 2. Opt-Out Users or Assign an Opt-out Tag

If you want to stop sending WhatsApp updates to uninterested users, you can opt them out instead of deleting them.
You can do this directly from their Chat Profile, as shown in the image on page 2.

✔ When you opt-out a user:
They will not receive future Broadcasts

They will be automatically excluded from campaigns

You can still retain their contact data for records

After opting out, these users will not appear when you send a broadcast—as long as you filter for “Opted-in” users only, as shown in the screenshot on page 2.

⭐ 3. Use an “Opt-out” or “DND” Tag for Better Control

If you prefer using tags, you can create a custom tag such as “dnd” and assign it to uninterested contacts.
Steps (explained on page 3):
Create a tag called dnd

Assign it to users you no longer want to message

While sending a broadcast, apply the filter:

Tags → not has → dnd

This ensures your campaigns skip everyone with the “dnd” tag.
The screenshot on page 3 visually shows the filter settings:
Opted-in = Yes

Tags → not has → dnd

This guarantees you don’t send WhatsApp messages to opted-out or uninterested users.

⭐ Important Note

Users who are not on WhatsApp do not cost anything, because WhatsApp does not charge for conversations that fail due to the user not being on the platform.
So, you don’t need to remove such contacts.
